Filming Day 8

Weather was a problem today as we kept having spots of rain. I had to make sure we didn't film during this time else continuity in the edit would ruin the scene. I also had to make sure that the props and set weren't spoiled by the rain too. The spears were of course needed again today for the three siblings as well as the fake meat and a campfire. As I was totally against using any kind of real fire in the set i had to find a way to make the campfire look burnt already so found rocks and sticks to create the campfire and Lauren helped me to cover the sticks with black paint to make them appear charred and burnt.

We went up further up the hill today to shoot the notice board scene too.

Again I used dirt and branches to make it look like the board had been there for a long time, using tape to make it seem like some other posters had come off. Using branches and some rocks I made it seem as though it was weathered to fit in with the film feel.

Today was the day we were using the much anticipated raw meat that I had made out of pancakes.
Dan really liked the way they turned out and everyone including myself was very pleased at what they looked like. The pancakes that i left in the fridge overnight were still good in the morning that we were using them for. Just before the shot I covered them with jam to give them the bloody look of a raw piece of meat. Unfortunately, the jam didn't help enough with the taste as with all the food colouring added to the pancake mix it tasted rather playdoh-y but the Conner's were troopers and kept going until we had the shots done. Water was on hand between each take for them to spit out the pancake and have a drink. I made 7 pancakes in total, a batch for Sam and a batch for Rob both of different colours to represent the different amounts they were cooked.
