Prop Master and Set Designer

As well as being script supervisor as my main role, I also took on the role of being the prop master and also the set designer. This involved me gathering all the props and set we needed to make the film.

To start with I did a script breakdown so I could get a list of everything we needed from the spears as weapons down to the tents and crates used for the set in all the locations. As we were filming in only a few days once I had a final script sent over I went online to see where I could get certain things.
Due to the short time between filming and gathering what I needed, I looked for shops I could go to and buy the items in real life to save time on any shipping or delivery days. After making notes on places nearby where I could get things once the budget came in, I went and scouted out what I wanted. Taking photos and writing down prices of different varieties from different stores meant I could go with the cheapest ones whilst also sending the photos to director Dan to make sure I was getting what he wanted to have the film to look like.

After finding out what I needed to get and once I had some money from the budget I went and got the first set of props and set from places like the Range and B&Q. When it came to tents, Dan wanted a big 8man tent big enough to film inside of with ease but this was going to eat a lot into the budget and I wasn't able to find anything big enough, cheap enough and that fitted in with the film aesthetic all in one. I made the decision to order from Ebay some more military and camping style tents to fit in with the style of the film as well as being cheap enough to fit in the small budget I had. Unfortunately the budget from Kickstarter wasn't going to be in our pockets in enough time to get what I needed before shooting began.

I then had to dip into my own money to be able to buy the rest of what I needed for the film. This included things such as ingredients to make the fake raw meat pancakes, the supplies inside the supply box Rob found and the beans Maggie would eat. I also needed to obtain more than one of anything I could in case there was any damage or loss so we wouldn't end up without a prop or piece of set which again ate more into the budget.
