Location Recce

8th February - Location Recce
Thrunton Woods
Found a location which had small tree houses on the ground made from sticks that could be used as an abandoned camp the siblings and Johnathon come across on their way to this sanctuary. Will need props and set that looks like people used to live there but haven't for a long time




  • empty water cans
  • old tins of food now empty and old
  • crates and boxes rob can look in
  • empty supply boxes
  • old burnt up tents or shelters


10th feb
Welfare Hall
Possible location for the interior
Will need a lot of set design to make it look abandoned and disused for years
Going to use a lot of the budget to create the right look if we use this location
Will have to decide on whether to use it or not after we get the money from Kickstarter

  • Welfare hall set design will need:
  • tents
  • tarps
  • leaves
  • branches
  • dusty old boxes
  • broken crates
  • water jugs
  • empty food and supply boxes
  • sawdust/chippings etc to make it look lived in and abandoned

Personally think Welfare hall isn't suitable as it will eat too much into the budget for such a short scene and won't look as good as other places we have in mind. If the budget was big enough and we had the permissions to then we could make this hall look really fitted in with the film but it looks too clean and lived in for it to work with the wilderness of the film.

Role Change

The Road Screening

We had another screening today of The Road. This is a film I had seen before and liked the look and overall style and colour that it has. We took inspiration from both films we watched in the cinema over the past two days which was a good idea because it really helped everyone to understand the tone and direction that we wanted to go for with our film.
